Founded in 1984 by our Chairman Michael Ellis, Van Elle has grown steadily over the past 26 years to become the UK's largest independent piling and ground stabilisation contractor. Our turnover peaked in 2007/2008 at £47m and, with a record profit of £3.7m, gained us a place in the 2009 Sunday Telegraph Top 100 and our continued success secured us the title '2011 Ground Engineering Specialist of the Year'.

We pride ourselves on the quality and value of the services and products we offer whilst striving to meet and exceed all of our customer's expectations. This achievement is reflected in the amount of repeat business we win and the number of projects we undertake for clients to whom we have been recommended. Throughout the recent economic downturn, the quality of our workmanship and our experience within all sectors of the construction industry has enabled us to remain competitive, retaining and expanding our client base. We are also one of the very few geotechnical engineering contractors to have continued to operate profitably. Many of our competitors have diversified over the years, however, we have made the decision to concentrate on where our experience and expertise lie and to remain true specialist contractors, only diversifying within the geotechnical sector.

Our workforce is committed to working together to always offer our clients the best solution whether it be restricted access or open site piling, drilling and grouting, site investigation, soil mixing, Smartfoot® precast ground beams or the design and installation of ground anchors and soil nails. We have invested heavily in recent years in innovative, sustainability-led solutions i.e. geothermal piles and boreholes and in IT packages which allow us to maximise efficiency by reducing materials and costs through value engineered design right through to monitoring site activities in real-time from our various office locations around the UK.
