Peter climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise much needed cash for the Bridge2Aid charity which operates in North West Tanzania, delivering vital dental care to the local communities.

‘Climbing Kilimanjaro was by far the most difficult yet rewarding challenge I have ever done. Trekking through such an array of environments from rainforest to arid volcanic glaciers was something I will never forget. The scenery was spectacular from the first to the last day! The trek itself was very steady. We were reminded by our guides constantly of the pace to go at. 'Slowly, slowly' they would keep repeating in Swahili.

The last section however, was something that completely took me by surprise. The altitude sickness kicked in. Never have I felt quite so rough! As planned though, I managed to get to the top of Kilimanjaro and now have the photo to prove it! The trek was awesome and it was great to do it for such a small scale charity that is doing great work out in Tanzania. In total I have raised in excess of £3500 for Bridge2Aid and hopefully raised their profile at the same time.’

Peter is hopeful that his next big adventure will be climbing the Everest Base Camp sometime in the future. Before that though, he will be taking Van Elle’s staff through their paces with a weekly fitness programme, which may prove more of a challenge than Kilimanjaro!

Van Elle are also hoping to enter several teams into next summer’s 3 Peaks Challenge. This will also go towards the Bridge2Aid charity.
