Prestige Isle of Wight Homes Demand High Quality Piling

The beautiful Isle of Wight is the backdrop to Van Elle's latest project for Barratt Homes. The housing demand on the island is high and Barratts have started to develop a hillside site, right on the seafront at Cowes. The development will consist of high-specification, penthouse style homes.

Van Elle have just completed piling works, which includes 70x 450mm diameter CFA bearing piles installed to a depth of 18m and 55 No in a contiguous piled wall for a basement which will give the development its much needed parking area.

The site is compact and access is fairly tight, so the Soilmec SM208 rig is being used for the job. All equipment is being transported to the Isle of Wight for the contract, which means our logistics have to be immaculately organised to ensure the job runs smoothly for our client.

The piling works were completed one week ahead of schedule and the site is due to be finished by 2008.
