Waterways
Investment in expanding and renovating our ports, harbours and inland waterways over the past few years has increased significantly to ensure that we can export and accommodate the ever increasing size of ships bringing in goods from the continent and much further afield. The growing population and more disposable income has resulted in an abundance of goods being imported from China and India and fruit, veg and other food stuffs being shipped on a regular basis from Spain, Portugal, Italy and the Caribbean meaning more ships docking too.
This has meant that as well as being able to accommodate the new super tankers and large container ships, we now need to be able to unload and load much faster than before to keep a steady flow of produce and goods moving in and out of the UK. In answer to these requirements, Van Elle are receiving a unprecedented number of enquiries for this sector and securing a large number of these jobs. These include bases for static cranes, tracks for roller and container cranes, new bored pile harbour walls and dry docks, associated buildings and renovation of existing canals and ports. We have also been involved in development projects on the site of old and disused harbours.
Commonly carried out by the largest and best known principal contractors in the industry due to the typically high values and the extent of the works, projects of this type present many challenges. Van Elle bring more to the table than most and as the largest independent piling and ground stabilisation contractor in the UK and '2011 Ground Engineering Specialist of the Year', our experience, in-house piling and anchoring capability, knowledge of innovative techniques and value engineered solutions are unsurpassed.
Regardless of your project's value, where it is and the scope of works, we can give you an advantage over competitors at tender and help you to save costs at the design and build stages.
