CFA Piling

Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) Piles are suitable for most soil conditions and being virtually vibration free can be installed in close proximity to existing buildings.

CFA Piles can be also be installed in non-cohesive and water bearing soils such as sand, gravels and glacial tills as well as cohesive materials such as Clay and weak rock.

CFA Piles are produced by drilling into the ground with a hollow stemmed continuous flight auger to the required depth or degree of resistance. Concrete is then pumped down the stem of the auger. While the concrete is pumped, the auger is slowly withdrawn, lifting the soil on the flights. A shaft of fluid concrete is formed to ground level. Steel reinforcement is then inserted into the concrete pile to the required depth.

We can achieve pile load capacities in excess of 2400kN.

Our fleet includes CFA rigs weighing between 25 and 70 tonnes capable of installing piles up to 28m long. For more information on our rigs visit our plant and equipment page.

We are able to install the following:

Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) 300mm to 1000mm diameter
Contiguous piled retaining walls up to 750mm diameter
Hard/Soft and Hard/Hard secant piled walls up to 750mm diameter

Van Elle have now introduced Auger Displacement Piling to their range of piling systems. This system of piling is highly effective in non cohesive and weak cohesive ground conditions and is highly effective on contaminated sites due to the lack of spoil generated. The ADP system offers all the advantages of CFA (Continuous Flight Auger) without the spoil or the mess. In the right ground conditions it may also reduce the length of the pile due to the increased skin friction generated by the installation method.

The system is available on all the Van Elle fleet of rigs and in common sizes to suit your project.
