Earlier this week, we hosted an Electrification and Decarbonisation event for the Railway Industry Association (RIA) at our head office.
The event brought together a diverse group of industry leading professionals, to discuss the future of electrification and decarbonisation in the rail industry, and how we can work together to reduce the cost of electrification in the UK.
Thanks to the RIA, we were able to demonstrate how as an industry, we can come together to reduce the cost of electrification from the ground up, such as standardised design, efficiencies in foundation delivery, and alternative solutions such as helical piling.
Attendees were given live demonstrations of CHS piling, helical piling grillage from ScrewFast, and OLE lightweight mast erection from Furrer and Frey.
The day also included a presentation from guest speakers Phil Doughty from Network Rail, Noel Dolphin from Furrer and Frey, and Liam Purcell from Ricardo Rail.
During the event, we also heard from our Training Centre Manager, Paul Dobson, who talked about how our team of trainers and assessors dedicate their time to ‘developing a workforce of the future.’
David Clarke, Technical Director at RIA, said: “I would like to thank RIA Member Van-Elle for hosting the visit to their head office and depot. This was a great opportunity to see and discuss the latest innovations which will help the industry deliver a cost-effective rolling programme of electrification.”
