Recently, we held the Ashfield Business Networking Event at our training facility in partnership with Ashfield District Council and Discover Ashfield.
The event was a great opportunity to foster connections with local businesses while offering them valuable insights from speakers across the community.
Throughout the day, delegates engaged in meaningful conversations, sharing their experiences and insights related to the shift toward net zero.
Matt Love, Group Pre-Construction Director for Van Elle, provided updates on our organisations sustainability initiatives as well as delving into the key challenges that we are encountering on our journey towards net zero.
Dr. Polina Baranova, an Associate Professor of Strategy & Sustainability at the University of Derby, then shared the findings of an extensive 8-year study on Green Growth.
Her presentation provided a comprehensive overview of how businesses in the East Midlands are being supported in their transition towards net zero.
Diane Beresford, Deputy Chief Executive of the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, brought a unique perspective by discussing the local Council’s role in driving sustainability efforts.
Diane talked about the benefits of the Accelerator project, funded by the UK Government and East Midlands Chamber, and also explored its ability to offer varied support to businesses.
This subsequently highlighted how the programme aims to support businesses in the East Midlands region focusing on five key investment priorities: supporting start ups, aiding businesses in achieving net-zero goals, boosting high street businesses, fostering innovation for high-growth companies, and providing financial assistance through growth vouchers and grants.
Matt Love, our Group Pre-Construction Director at Van Elle said:
“Following on from the success of our supplier sustainability open day earlier this year, it was a delight to host the Ashfield District Council Business Leaders Networking Event at our Training Centre in Kirkby. Events like these play a crucial role in connecting businesses across the region, fostering the exchange of best practices, promoting sustainability, and sharing innovative ideas.
“We look forward to hosting more events like this in the future, we believe it’s through conversations and shared experiences like these, that we can drive positive change and make a real impact.”
