Celebrating our People: 2024 Award Winners

On the 12th of December 2024, we celebrated our annual 2024 People Awards and announced the winners for each category.

These awards recognise and celebrate the exceptional work of our amazing people who consistently deliver outstanding contributions to Van Elle and our customers.

Values Award for Safety:

 

Joe Page, Construction Manager

Recognised for successfully delivering multiple challenging projects while demonstrating a strong commitment to maintaining high standards and safety.

Head of Procurement

Acknowledged for her exemplary efforts in following company systems and processes, as well as encouraging others to do the same with transparency and integrity.

Olivia Bestwick

HR Manager

Awarded for stepping up and maintaining dedication. Despite a reduced team, Olivia’s leadership has greatly improved team performance and support to the business.

 

Manager of the Year:

 

Alex Walsh

Head of Commercial

Awarded for his inspiring leadership and driving team improvement. He excels in identifying needs, organising teams, and implementing change, while expanding best practices across all divisions.

 

Operative of the Year:

 

 

Matthew Taylor

Piling Rig Attendant

Recognised for his impressive progression, work ethic, and attention to detail. His positive attitude and eagerness to learn make him a valuable asset, with his skills and dedication ensuring a bright future ahead

 

 

 

Rising Star of the Year:

 

Daniel Smith

Contracts Engineer

Known for his work ethic, Dan is a valuable team member. He effectively manages client communication and stays informed about all contracts, proving himself indispensable.

 

 

 

William Morgan

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Since his placement, Will has become a key team member, demonstrating exceptional commercial skills, professionalism, and problem-solving. His rapid growth and impact indicate a promising future within the company.

Kris Purdham

Site Supervisor

Praised for his long service, Kris is a highly skilled and reliable supervisor known for his attention to detail, excellent reporting, and problem-solving. He mentors drillers and ensures projects meet high standards, prioritising safety and efficiency.

Awarded for exceptional group collaboration in delivering successful projects under the TRU scheme.

This cross-functional effort, combined with two years of shared commitment to excellence, has ensured high-quality project delivery and strengthened our foundation to continue gaining work in the future.

 

Unsung Hero of the Year:

 

Eugenia Polo Pascual,

Senior Design Engineer

Eugenia has been recognised as a vital asset to the housing team. Her skill in smartfoot design alongside her commitment to handling beam designs often submitting early to prevent disruptions, shows her dedication to excellence.

 

 

 

 

Craig Cooper

Plant Manager

Honoured for taking on a new role to improve yard standards, Craig has demonstrated a strong willingness to learn and prioritise safety, with his efforts reflected in routine audits and continuous improvement.
