Supporting Scouts with Rail Safety Talk
Colleagues delivered a Rail Safety Talk to the 1st Ripley Scout Group Cubs, supporting their Personal Safety badge. As a company working on the railway, we highlighted key safety messages through interactive activities, helping young Scouts understand the dangers and importance of staying safe around railways.
Inspiring Future Engineers During Science Week
Our Ground Improvement Director Claire Garrett visited Victoria Park Infant School to inspire Year 2 pupils with an engaging Science Week session on engineering and ground improvement techniques.
Spreading Christmas Cheer
In 2024, our team made the Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal our most successful yet, collecting and delivering over 120 gifts to the local Ripley branch, spreading festive joy to families in need.
Supporting Alzheimer’s Society
Our colleagues took part in the Travis Perkins Charity Football Match to support the Alzheimer’s Society, with Team Van Elle raising awareness and funds through their participation.
Kirkby Community Engagement Highlights
In 2024, we partnered with Ashfield Council for community initiatives such as clean-ups at Sutton Park Railway Station and the “Big Spring Clean-up,” collecting over 50 bags of litter. We also supported the Kirkby Storehouse Food Bank and hosted the Ashfield Business Networking Event to promote sustainability and local connections.
Training Partnership with Nottingham Skills Academy
Through our in-house training centre, Van Elle Construction Training, we’ve partnered with the Nottingham Skills Academy to offer work experience and sector-specific skills training through fully funded CPCS and NPORS certified courses.
Community Initiatives with Sisk North West
In collaboration with Sisk North West, we supported various community initiatives, including the “Winter Warmer Campaign” providing essential food, the “Prom Wear Appeal” for St Matthews High School students, building compost bins at Clayton Hall Museum, and restoring an overgrown garden at the museum.
Twitchell Church Car Park Transformation
We supported Twitchell Church in clearing their garden to create a car park for local residents. Richmond Plant Hire (JCB digger), Lynch and Fitzgeralds (qualified drivers), and Reconomy (muck away and grabs) supported us in the project, enhancing parking facilities for church visitors.

Collaborative Social Value Day
Together with SPL Powerlines and Adey Steel Group, we took part in a great collaborative effort to support the Holbrook St Michaels football club, in installing floodlight foundations.
STEM Sessions Delivered

Cancer Research UK Donation
We raised £17,000 for Cancer Research UK, our chosen charity for 2021/2022. As well as salary sacrifices throughout the year, we supported campaigns and encouraged our employees to take part in fundraising as individuals and within the business.
Collections for Local Soup Kitchen
We delivered over 100 essential items to the Mansfield Soup Kitchen; as well as donating 10 boxes of plastic cups to help support the services they provide.
£2k Donation to Support Ukraine Relief
We Donated £2,000 to the Nottingham Ukrainian Cultural Centre, which is actively raising money to directly support those fleeing Ukraine, with funds raised going towards medical packs, food, blankets and other humanitarian aid.
A46 Binley Junction
During a project for Osborne we attended a number of stakeholder engagement sessions, providing information to more than 300 people. We also donated 20kg of biscuits to Coventry food bank.
Volunteers make a difference to Burnt Oak community
Nine members of our team volunteered alongside colleagues from VolkerFitzpatrick and Mace, as we renovated North Road Community Centre in Burnt Oak, London.
