Van Elle Supports Scouts with Rail Safety Talk

As part of our ongoing commitment to support our community and promote social responsibility, our colleagues Shannon Wade (Geotechnical Engineer – Strata Geotechnics) and Dave Warner (Director of Specialist Piling & Rail) delivered a Rail Safety Talk for the Scouts, focusing on the Cubs’ Personal Safety badge.

As a company actively involved in working on the railway, we understand the importance of safety in this environment.

Our colleagues shared their knowledge and expertise with the 1st Ripley Scout Group Cubs (aged 8-10.5), teaching them about railway safety and the dangers associated with railways.

To demonstrate just how fast trains travel, the Cubs took part in an activity where they attempted to run at the speed of a train, highlighting the incredible speed and silence of approaching trains.

The session was both educational and interactive, with the Cubs pledging never to trespass on railway infrastructure.

We believe it’s crucial to engage in social value activities like this, as they help create a safer, more informed community while fostering a sense of responsibility in the younger generation.

We’ve received fantastic feedback from both the Cubs and their parents about how engaging and informative the talk was.

At Van Elle, we remain committed to making a positive impact in the communities we serve, and we look forward to continuing our support for local initiatives that promote safety, education, and well-being.
