We’re thrilled to share recent images from the successful completion of the Llyn Llywelyn Reservoir dam stabilisation project in Beddgelert Forest, Gwynedd following our demobilisation in 2023.
Working alongside our client, William Hughes, our site team led by Kris Purdham delivered this critical 13-week project, completing at the end of May 2023.
The works involved drilling and pressure grouting using the C6 XP2 drilling rig to strengthen the dam structure. Throughout the project, Van Elle and William Hughes demonstrated exceptional diligence, constantly monitoring for grout outbreaks and adjusting pumping as needed to ensure quality and safety.
A key focus was minimising environmental impact, therefore we sourced materials locally to reduce transport emissions and used water directly from the lake for flushing, which helped reduce dust and breakout risks. Runoff and grout residue were carefully managed to protect the natural surroundings.
