Almost a year to the day since we commenced work on our new offices, workshops and precast concrete facility at Kirkby in Ashfield, we are pleased to announce that all works are complete and our staff are settling in well in their new home. This expansion in addition to our head office facility at nearby Pinxton, has enabled us to not only improve the working environment for our staff, but also to allow us to realise our ambitions for expansion over the next 10 years.
Our new precast facility will allow us to increase production of our Smartfoot modular foundation system by over 70% and manufacture innovative precast products that our R&D Team have in the pipeline. These are exciting times for the Group in this, our 30th anniversary year, and we will be making more exciting announcements in the coming weeks, so watch this space!!
Van Elle’s financial results, service growth, investments and reputation was last night endorsed by being announced as the 2013 Construction News Specialist Contractor of the Year. As the largest and most prestigious industry awards and surrounded by many clients and suppliers alike, going up to collect our trophy was a very proud moment and a testament to everyone involved in the projects on which we have worked. Everyone at Van Elle is extremely proud that their hard work and dedication to improving sustainability, innovation and value engineering in the industry has been recognised in this way and it is a real motivator to keep on outperforming the sector in preparation for next years’ awards.
The judges commented “A specialist ground engineering company with a clearly defined vision and strategy. Van Elle’s approach to behavioural safety, training and their pragmatic problem-solving ethos sets it apart from others in this sector helping it to punch well above its weight”.
We have taken delivery of a new Llamade P105TT piling rig. This rig is for the execution of continuous flight auger piles (CFA) or displacement piles of maximum 24m depth and diameters between Ø350mm and Ø800mm.
To support our investment of a number of new rigs and types of equipment including the Soilmec R625, 2 No. D1004s, 2 No. Movax SG50V side-grip vibrating hammers, 2 No. BSP top driven hammers, a Llamada P-105TT and others, we have recently taken delivery of 11 new 750 and 500 Schwing pumps and 3 new concrete drums. Further investments are planned in the near future enabling us to widen the gap between our ability and that of our competitors to undertake projects quickly, safely and more sustainably.
Following the proven success of our many significant investments over recent years, we have just ordered another new rig; the Llamada P-105TT. This amazing machine is capable of drilling and tracking 360° from the forwards position, is lighter than the competition, offers high stability, is incredibly powerful, is compact to transport, yet is very quick and easy to set-up. It’s performance characteristics enable it to undertake schemes which much larger rigs would struggle with and it’s retractable counterweight allows for efficient and accurate vertical drilling, ideal for contig/secant piled retaining walls as well as bearing piles. Please see the technical data sheet for further details.
Van Elle have just been informed that we are finalists in this year’s Construction News Awards in both of the categories we entered; ‘Tomorrow’s Company’ and ‘Specialist Contractor of the Year’. This is in addition to the 4 finalist categories of the Ground Engineering Awards and 2 finalist categories of the Specialists Awards that we have already been shortlisted for. This has only been possible due to our continued sector leading performance, expansion into specialist markets and, of course, all the hard work that our professional, dedicated and knowledgeable staff have put into value engineering and successfully completing profitable projects safely and efficiently.
Following the launch of our specialist rail division last year, offering restricted access and RRV mounted piling and embankment stabilisation for rail projects across the UK, Van Elle have recently invested in new techniques and equipment ideally suited to working in this environment. Having successfully completed the piling on flagship projects including Reading Station, Newport Station, Croydon Station and Birmingham New Street for some of the UK’s largest Rail contractors, we now have the ability to design, install and test thick wall steel tubular piles up to 610mm diameter. To enable us to efficiently install these pile types in, sometimes, restricted access situations, working within possessions or from an RRV or track/wheel mounted excavator, we have recently purchased a unique Movax SG50V side-grip pile hammer and BSP DX-RT20 top-driven impact hammers.
Should you wish to discuss a specific rail project in more detail, please contact either Dave Warner, Divisional Director or Andy Howard, Rail Contracts Manager on 01773 580580 or email email@example.com
Continuing our investment in new rigs, equipment and capabilities, Van Elle has just purchased a new Soilmec R625 large diameter rotary rig. Capable of installing rotary piles up to 2500mm diameter to a depth of 77m with 240kNm torque, this is one of the largest and most powerful rigs on our fleet and will enable us to look at value engineered options on even larger and more complex projects than we have been able to in the past. “Expanding our rotary capabilities will mean that we can now offer clients the very best solution for their project regardless of the size, location and type of foundations that are required. If the scheme dictates, multiple rigs and techniques can be utilised on a single site ensuring best value using the UK’s leading award winning specialist contractor”. says Peter Handley, Piling Director.
As well as being announced as finalists in the 2 categories entered for the 2013 Specialists Awards, Van Elle has recently been confirmed as finalists in 4 categories of the 2013 Ground Engineering Awards; Ground Investigation Specialist of the Year, Contractor of the Year, UK Project with a Geotechnical Value up to £1M and Award For Technical Excellence.
