Last week we supported National Inclusion Week (26th September – 2nd October).
The national campaign is dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to create inclusive workplaces.
This year, the theme was Time to Act: The Power of Now encouraging positive action.
According to the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) statistics, they indicate that the construction sector is still only 15 per cent women (2 per cent on-site), 6 per cent BAME workers, and 6 per cent disabled workers.
Improving inclusion is an integral part of our core values and our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy. We want Van Elle to be an inclusive place to work, as such, we are committed to supporting and promoting (EDI).
Throughout the week, we encouraged our employees to have conversations, to help drive change and inspire action at Van Elle.
We shared various blogs and helpful resources, provided training, and recognised the hard work of our people.
Employees shared their personal pledges, and what they are committed to doing differently to help drive inclusion beyond National Inclusion Week.
The conversation continues to build momentum and spark conversation across the business.
Together, we can all help change the construction sector, so it truly reflects the communities we serve. Offering equality of opportunities to diverse talent and an inclusive work environment where talent can thrive.
