Update on Beeston Canalside Development: Piling Works for 604 Homes
Work is progressing well at the Keepmoat’s Beeston Canalside development on the former Boots site in Nottingham, where we are delivering the foundations for 604 new multi-tenure homes.
Valued at over £3 million and spanning multiple phases, this is the largest single scheme awarded to Van Elle’s Housing division in the past 12 months.
Using our innovative Smartfoot system, we are installing approximately 14,000 linear metres of modular pre-cast ground beams, significantly accelerating foundation installation and overall construction progress.
To date, we have lifted 90 plots and installed 6,214 linear metres of beams across the site.
Our piling teams have also made substantial progress, with 1,200No. precast concrete piles installed using the Junttan PM16 across two phases. Piling works will continue in subsequent phases of the project.
Another key milestone is the first-ever sheet piling project undertaken by our RGT telescopic leader rig.
Work is ongoing on a 173.5m retaining wall, which involves installing 8.5m ESZ20/700 and 10.5m ESZ26/700 sheet piles to provide a robust retaining system for the road and waterway network surrounding the development.
Additionally, two other sections of sheet piles are being installed. One section has already been completed, with 99m of 8m ESZ20-700 single sheets installed using the Volvo EC380 with a Movax side grip and the VE Colmar impact hammer. A further retaining wall is scheduled for completion at a later stage.
This project is a significant step in transforming disused land into a vibrant new community in Nottinghamshire.
