Work begins on the electrification of the Core Valley Lines in South Wales

On Monday (26th July), our Rail division and Keltbray commenced piling works on Core Valley Lines in preparation for the electrification of the South Wales Metro.

Working together with Amey and Transport for Wales (TfW), this programme provides a significant milestone in the modernisation and decarbonisation of the transport network in Wales.

As two of the UK’s largest rail overhead line foundation contractors with bases in Wales, we bring a wealth of experience to the South Wales Metro from years of successful delivery on major electrification schemes in Wales, including The Greater West Electrification Programme (GWEP).

Together, the partnership has the largest and most versatile fleet of Colmar Road Rail Vehicles (RRV) and compatible attachments in the UK specifically designed for OLE piling on the railway.
