In November, we attended the Wates Residential Wales 2023 Supply Chain Event at the Glamorgan County Cricket Club in Cardiff.
The event brought together around 200 people, who collectively represent the Wates supply chain. It served as a valuable platform to gain insights into the company’s priorities and future plans, while also providing an occasion to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding achievements.
During the awards ceremony, we were honoured to receive the Safety and Occupational Health Award for our attitude to safety and the well-being of our people.
Wates praised Van Elle, highlighting our successful completion of a high-risk activity without any incidents or lost time due to health and safety issues. The on-site supervision and labour collaborated effectively with the site team, ensuring full compliance with all aspects of the work.
This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work exhibited by our team throughout our engagement in the housing development project at the former Llanrumney High School site.
Our foundation work played a crucial role in supporting the construction of 98 homes and involved the installation of 783 pre-cast concrete piles and 3935 meters of Smartfoot modular ground beams, which were all produced in our in-house production facility.
Daniel Wilson, Operations Manager for Housing attended the event and commented: “This recognition not only underscores our commitment to safety and occupational health but also highlights the collaborative efforts that have contributed to the success of the project.
“We are proud to have played a pivotal role in this housing development and look forward to continuing our relationship with Wates, to deliver excellence in all our future endeavours.”
