Van Elle’s Educational Outreach inspires future engineers at Orchard Primary & Nursery School.

Community engagement school

Our team recently visited Orchard Primary & Nursery School, close to our head office, to deliver an engaging session to school children and support our efforts on community engagement in the area.

We took our JCB Tracked Excavator and our colleagues Jono Wright, Senior Engineering Manager, and Andy Pickering, Plant Manager where they led an interactive and educational session for children aged 7 to 10 years old.

During the session, Jono and Andy shared insights into the machine’s driving controls and explained its functionalities. They also discussed how it plays a crucial role in completing essential infrastructure projects that support a sustainable future.

The excavator, with its impressive details and statistics, sparked curiosity among the young minds.

The budding engineers were thrilled to get the chance to sit inside the excavator. Providing them with a firsthand experience of its controls and workings.

The session aimed to foster an understanding among the children regarding the positive impact such equipment plays in supporting construction projects across the country.

Jono Wright said: “Van Elle takes pride in contributing to the local community, fostering educational experiences that extend beyond the classroom.

“I enjoyed explaining how this machine works to support our work. The kids were great and so inquisitive. Who knows, among these bright minds, there may be some engineers of the future”.

We also received feedback directly from our budding engineers at Orchard Primary School:

‘The visit from the digger was awesome.’

‘Thank you for bringing the digger to our school, it really was amazing.’

‘It was fun sitting in the digger. I liked looking at the controls.’

‘I liked sitting in the digger because I really wanted to see what it was like inside it.’
