Recently, Van Elle Rail was engaged by AMCO Giffen to deliver emergency rail infrastructure works on the West Coast Main Line between Tamworth and Nuneaton, following the identification of structural damage to an overhead line support near Polesworth during a routine inspection.
To ensure the continued safe operation of both passenger and freight services, a temporary support system was promptly installed ahead of the permanent remediation works.
Our scope of work included the installation of a sheet pile retaining wall at the toe of the embankment to provide structural reinforcement and long-term stability and the installation of the foundations to support the new Over Headline structure.
This involved the installation of 31No. AZ26-700 sheet piles, each 8m in length for the works at the toe of the embankment and for the construction of foundations for new Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), this included, two 7m long, 610mm diameter circular hollow section (CHS) casings and transfer plates.
